Each review on Family Reads includes the level of the book. These levels will help you quickly determine whether the book is a good fit for your child (or for you, young person!). You'll also notice that each level is a category — click the category and you'll see all the books at that level in one convenient place.
Here's a quick guide to the levels...
Level 1 (read reviews) » Board books or simple picture books, perfect to introduce reading to the very young. Examples: Goodnight Moon, Where the Wild Things Are.
Level 2 (read reviews) » Longer picture books, great for toddlers and preschoolers who can pay attention for a few paragraphs per page, as well as early readers. Examples: Madeleine, Polar Express, The Little Engine that Could.
Level 3 (read reviews) » Short chapter books or beginning reader books made up of several short stories, ideal to introduce chapter books (and the accompanying sense of pride) to young listeners or early readers. Examples: Frog and Toad, Junie B. Jones, Magic Tree House
Level 4 (read reviews) » Juvenile fiction chapter books for confident readers and listeners with a healthy attention span. Examples: The Mouse and the Motorcycle, Charlotte’s Web, Little House on the Prairie
Level 5 (read reviews) » Young adult fiction for more mature readers and listeners who can handle advanced plots, complicated relationships and some violence. Examples: Harry Potter, The Hobbit, Holes
